Just come from a protest hearing with the protest committee for Santahamina Open. A little tired you become! The first race was the least bit cluttered with driving and other brands. We protested that the check mark gear (and thus shortened the 2nd beat by about 50%). On the first beat we met, what later turned out to be the check mark, (with attached motor), approximately 200 meters to leeward of the first kryssens duty mark. After duty mark (mark 1), all fell off and sailed directly to lämärket. (Where did the first half kryssens wind the way). On the second upwind we met windward mark, (with the same motor), after we assumed that about half the beat. There and then we decided to proceed to the windward mark which we judged must be in the same place as on the 1st beat, because no banändring announced. (But it was the duty of the buoy that was left and not the windward mark.) The protest was filed against the race committee against that course changed incorrectly. In protestförhanlingen we learned that the official boat windward mark with race organizers announced that they drove, but it was "marginal" and the race committee decided to take no action !! Sad that our royal yacht club is not able to arrange a sailing with better conditions, but think that a drifting windward mark is quite in order. Believe that the boats came up to the windward mark finally had no more than 2-300 meters downwind! Well we did get to sail and now the sun is shining.
One can not protest the race sailing committee. They demand redress saturn if one feels that one disadvantage with a lower ranking example of a mark drifted so that you, the first boat will sail longer than subsequent boats that can round earlier. Rule 62.1 (a)
Think sailing management handled the day well, given that the wind knob type hundred eighty degrees during the day. Plus they had marks swiftly saturn to deal with, as most participants saw and perceived saturn right
